The Muscogee Elder Community in Okmulgee, Oklahoma hosted an Indian taco sale to raise money to go to the National Indian Council on Aging’s 2023 American Indian Elders Conference.
Esther Gee says her favorite part of the conference trip is the camaraderie and sharing her Muscogee Creek culture. “There’s usually a style show, you wear your Native dress, and at times we’ve shared our Creek songs with a talent contest. It’s just a great gathering,” Gee said.

“It’s a big deal. We are pleased to get that funding and I think it’s also a recognition of the work we have done and the credibility that we’ve earned over the some 40 years that this organization has been in existence,” said Larry Curley, executive director of the National Indian Council on Aging.
